Reading helps us inculcate lots and lots knowledge about varied subjects. Broadly speaking, it familiarizes you with the world at large. But, nowadays, the youth does not devote their time in reading. Rather they prefer to watch a movie, catch-up with friends, watch television, play computer game etc. However, as parent you should motivate your child for reading books, novels and magazines beside their textbooks. This article gives tips on how to inculcate reading habits in teens.

The secret of meeting this challenge lies in offering the book of their choice in their field of interest at the beginning. This could even include comics like tintin, astreix, hardy boys and many others. You can also ask for a recommendation from a friend, local library or at book stores. You can also choose a title in some subject that he/she is currently studying. Find a book that is not very long and which is simple, readable and interesting. Prefer a book that has approximately 300 – 400 pages.

Once you have purchased the book and it is physically with you, tell your child to divide the book in equal parts depending upon length and the breadth of the book. Suggest that he/ she should finish book till a part before he/she stops reading. If you have picked a book of 400 pages, then divide it eight parts, and the child has to study 50 pages each day without a break. This will absorb them in what they are reading and will have no trouble staying with the book.
